Continuing critical design inquiry and production, second-year studio builds on first-year design teaching. ARC 207 involves projects of increasing complexity and expectations for development. Emphasis is placed on concept formation, design methodology, design strategy, and design synthesis. This semester, primary architectural topics include tectonics (material assembly and structure), program (activity, function, and purpose), and urban-site context(product and instigator of physical, social and cultural conditions).  Research, design process, and production will be focused on these topic-priorities. Students will gain proficiency with core architectural design concerns including representation, spatial form, and building technology.  All second-year studio work will be engaged through the vehicle of project design.
